The Second Season Of Jessica Jones Is Being Released For International Women’s Day
The highly anticipated second season of Marvel’s show Jessica Jones is being released on Netflix to coincide with International Women’s Day (8 March). If you’ve watched the first season of the show you’ll already know Jessica Jones, played by Krysten Ritter, is a trouble-making private investigator with straight up amazing fighting skills and super-human strength.
The show is being released on International Women’s Day for a very good reason – it’s a show created for and about women. While Marvel themselves do often have strong female characters in their shows and movies, this is the only Marvel creation with a female lead.
Furthermore, show-runner Melissa Rosenberg mentioned earlier she wanted to have even more women working on the show for the second season than there was on the first and she’s succeeded in doing that in a big way. Each one of the 13 episodes within season two are filmed by female directors.
