Journalist Caught Kicking Fleeing Refugee Children on Camera
Hungarian TV journalist, Petra Laszlo has been caught on film tripping up a refugee holding a child and also kicking two fleeing children. She has since been fired after the incident for “unacceptable behaviour”.
The New York Times reported that the refugees were trying to flee from police at a camp in Roszke near the Serbian border. The refugees were from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.
According to the Guardian, the journalist is from the N1TV channel which is linked to Hungary’s far-right Jobbik party. A 20-second video of the scene was posted on Stephan Richter’s Twitter, a reporter for the German television channel RTL. It has led to the Facebook group of “The Petra László Wall of Shame”.

N1TV’s editor in cheif, Szabolcs Kisberk posted on the station’s website: “The camerawoman’s employment has today been terminated with immediate effect, the case is now closed for us.” There has been uproar on the Facebook group to condemn László’s actions and the opposition parties Együtt-PM and the Democratic Coalition have said they will initiate charges that are punishable by up to five years in prison.
