A Moment In Time
Two young refugees in the desolate beauty of Tehran, a Californian surfer cutting through the perfect wave, the Sony World Photography Awards showcases a diverse subject matter from the lens of more than 100 talented photographers. The Awards are considered to be one of the most prestigious in the global photographic calendar, gaining artists international recognition for their work.
The exhibition of the Awards, which was due to be held at Somerset House in the UK, was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic and so the World Photography exhibition has started some new initiatives in order to inspire audiences and support the artists recognised in the awards. This includes Instagram Live sessions, portfolio reviews and showcases of the winner’s work.
Life On Mars
By Katie Farr
An inquisitive young explorer sets off on a voyage of discovery. With this image we delve into the realm of infrared, transporting the high peaks of Chamonix into another dimension. I used a camera converted to Full Spectrum with an Infrared Chrome filter to transform the wild mountain landscape into something spectacular. So much energy, life, and colour goes unseen by the naked eye. I wanted my audience to see the landscape from another perspective, in a new wavelength of light!

Night Snowfall
By Marco Minischetti
An unexpected snowfall occurred during the night in Apulia, Italy. Snowfall is unusual in this area due to the mild climate. That night, the sky turned a fascinating colour. I tried to isolate a line of trees in the foreground against the striking orange sky. Opting for a long exposure highlighted the movement of the snow.

A view of half-constructed buildings in the new town of Pardis. Pardis is located 17 km northeast of Tehran province. Although some parts of the town have been already settled, almost half of the buildings in the town are yet to be completed. Many of the apartments are owned by people who had pre-purchased them many years ago and are still waiting for their apartments to be completed so they can move in. However, the timing of the completion is being constantly postponed.
