Travel Bubble Bliss & The Latest in Travel
Some must-haves, must-visits, and the latest in the world of travel, that will be very useful with the Australian travel bubble.
Bubble Bliss
We’ve put in the hard yards and have very diligently played the long game and for that, our much-anticipated and highly-requested reward is finally here. Trans-Tasman Travel Bubble Â- is there a sweeter string of words? From 19 April, our doors will be wide open for our Australian friends with zero quarantine time on either end. This means a multitude of things, but the standout and most exciting aftermath of this border update would be families and friends reuniting.
While getting vaccinated is not required to fly to and from the land Down Under, the post-Covid travel norms such as wearing a mask in-flight and comprehensive contact tracing will be in play. Small price to pay, we say. With that said, onwards and upwards we go (literally, finally) and we hope to hear more good news like this in the weeks to come.
Luggage to the Luxe
2021 is the year to explore our own backyard and embrace the beauty that is New Zealand. While this may require a slightly smaller suitcase than overseas travel requires, there are still certain pieces of luggage that will always be an essential.
New Zealand luxury leather goods brand, Deadly Ponies, have just released their FW12 Voyage collection, celebrating the explorer within all of us. Cultivating creativity and united community that the past year has brought to the fore, the collection features the classic favourites in new colourways, as well as a smattering of new styles for the modern-day traveller.
Our picks include the Astro Washbag in sumptuous leather, coming in both classic Black and cool Forest. The convenient small size makes it perfect for weekend getaways while remaining effortlessly stylish.
Available in store and online now.
Travelling Trends
It’s been over a year now since the pandemic wreaked havoc on the travel industry. With borders closing and holidays cancelled, Kiwis had to adjust their plans and quickly get used to this new normal.
With international destinations out of the question, bar Australia (at least for now), New Zealanders started exploring their own beautiful country, taking in all the sites and activities usually frequented by overseas tourists. Travel site, booking.com, looked into the changing habits of Kiwi travellers, revealing our top most searched local hotspots. Unsurprisingly, the quaint and picturesque town of Russell in the Bay of Islands took out the number one spot, with Raglan, Kaiteriteri, Glenorchy and Ohope Beach rounding out the top 5 respectively. Ski field, Whakapapa Village also made an appearance on the list, with wine region Wairarapa and West Coast community, Punakaiki also making the top 10.
With international travel bubbles looking to be on the horizon, it’s best to make the most of these national gems while they’re still quiet.
