Burberry: More Than An Address
Authentic, bold, creative to the core… this encapsulates the very essence of England’s homegrown luxury house, Burberry. Undeniable in the many remarkable collections we’ve seen the house produce, these words will also ring true in their flagship store, which is the very first to feature Burberry’s new global design concept – think British luxury at its finest.
Located in the heart of London on The Knightsbridge Estate’s new development, positioned in the iconic SW1 postcode that covers some of central London’s most famous landmarks, including Buckingham Palace, the store site at No.1 Sloane Street. Fittingly, the iconic flagship store will also be dubbed as that – No.1 Sloane Street. There’s a fair bit of history attached to this decision, considering Burberry founder, Thomas Burberry, opened his first London store in the SW1 area, which, 130 years later, remains the home of the brand’s global headquarters.
Burberry’s new home was designed in collaboration with renowned architect Vincenzo De Cotiis, with a twist on classicism juxtaposed with brutalist elements and luxurious materials to create a distinctly modern feel. De Cotiis shares, ‘We wanted to create a domestic shell, a home where art, culture, and people move through intelligent and elegant modernity. The place as a portrait.’ The dynamic and versatile space will naturally heavily feature the brand’s core colours and signature check – beige, black, white and red – alongside other rich details and textures.
Building from the No.1 Sloane Street build and to continue Burberry’s pursuit in bringing things to life that are beautiful and are matchless in nature and quality, Burberry will open three more flagships featuring its new design concept over the next 12 months – at Plaza 66 in Shanghai, on Rue Saint-Honoré in Paris and on Bond Street, also in London.
