The French Way To Design A Bridge Into The Future
The Seine flows as an iconic landmark on the Parisian landscape. A monumental 777 kilometres long, the river stretches through the northern part of France, weaving through Paris, before spilling out into the English Channel. With 37 bridges traversing it in the City of Lights, residents have plenty of options to pass over the Seine and enjoy its beauty – but none quite as breathtaking as this proposed bridge by French architecture firm, Rescubika.
Suspended over the river like a floating park, the Babylon Bridge’s most striking feature is the central waterfall pouring into the Seine below and fed in a continuous flow. Surrounding this waterfall will be a garden wonderland of hanging pots and vegetable plots, designed so pedestrians can unwind from the noise of the city. The shores of the river are utilised for agricultural livestock, with Rescubika describing it as “urban agriculture”, created to rid the city entrance of unsightly factories and pollution. Acting as an urban oasis for the city of Paris, the Babylon Bridge is a vision of the future, one with a focus on the serene and of leaving behind a chaotic environment.
