A Word With Wealth Adviser at FNZC Lory Luo
I’d name my autobiography…
Born Strong
To me success means…
To enjoy a balanced life, enjoy every moment of it. I am very lucky that I had grown up in a loving family. Now that I have my own family, I want to give my kids what I had. I hope I am able to set good examples for my children, be a supportive wife and at the same time, I am grateful that I have a supportive husband, which enable me to achieve a meaningful career.
Best advice I’ve been given…
Always believe in yourself
I made my first dollar:
By helping at the restaurant that my parents owned when I was 13 years old
The most rewarding part of my job…
Building long-term relationships with my clients, being trusted by my clients and over the years, many of my clients have become family friends.
Life motto:
If there is a will, there’s a way
Favourite book:
Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg
My goals for 2019 are…
To be the better of myself in 2019, than 2018.
The women who inspire me:
Sheryl Sandberg
The gender stereotype I can’t stand:
That a woman’s key role in a career is as the assistant
The main challenge for women in business is…
To balance family life and work, and often women tend to have fear of failure. Often we try to be the superwoman, and expect to be perfect in every way. The reality is that no one can be the superwoman. We have to accept that it is okay to not be perfect.
We need pay equality because…
When women are being valued, we are motivated to achieve more, and it helps to bring the best out of ourselves.
Gender diversity in the workplace is…
poor, the finance industry is dominant by white middle age males.
I advocate for change by 2024, which is 5 years time
The change I want to see in (2019) is younger women at work step up and take every opportunity to be brave and bold. Personally, I have been more proactive to create opportunities to lead.
