Here’s a round-up of some of the latest food news from the food scene that would bring the party to your palates.
Food with Flair
A stalwart of Auckland’s Viaduct dining scene, Euro’s recent re-brand has brought a fresh direction to the restaurant with a new creative force entering the kitchen. After honing his craft in France before moving back home to NZ for his most recent role as Executive Chef at Hilton Auckland’s FISH, Kiwi born Samoan chef Uelese Mua, is now at the helm of Euro’s kitchen, bringing a fresh perspective to its Autumn menu.
Celebrating Euro’s close proximity to the sea, the new menu is a representation of ‘late summer’, with highlights including snapper ‘on the bone’ with XO butter and lime, and fermented heirloom tomatoes with flatbread, whipped goat’s curd and basil. With some exciting plans for the restaurant’s future offerings, the addition of Mua to the kitchen is looking to be one full of experimentation and a playful direction.
Soda Saviour
If you’re interested in getting more pre and probiotics into your diet, however, the idea of drinking kombucha makes you feel a little queasy, a new NZ-made soda may be just the answer. Cheekily named Good Sh*t, the great tasting, low sugar soda contains 1 billion colony-forming Bacillus coagulans probiotics in every can, and a third of your daily fibre.
Also containing at least 10 grams of soluble, prebiotic fibre, Good Sh*t will help keep you regular in a more natural way. Containing natural ingredients, such as Acacia Gum, Prickly Pear Cactus, Artichoke Leaf and Marshmallow Root, with less than 2.4 grams of sugar per 100ml, the sodas are satisfying and guilt-free. Coming in four tasty flavours, Cola, Citrus, Berry and Ginger, Good Sh*t is available online now in four packs that will be delivered straight to your door.
Instant Taste
We all love a tasty, freshly brewed coffee in the morning, however, waiting for the machine to warm up or the plunger to be ready to plunge can take away those much-needed moments during the pre-work rush. While instant coffee may be the more convenient option, the results can often leave a lot to be desired.
Luckily for us, Hummingbird Coffee has come to the rescue with their latest product, OOMPH! Specialty Instant. Coming in single serve sachets, Hummingbird have brought together the quality of fresh plunger coffee with the convenience of instant. The sachets use 100% fair trade organic beans that are small batch hand-roasted, brewed in a way that captures the best of the bean and tastes just like a plunger coffee.
Coming in a box of 4 for RRP$9.99, they are available now online and coming soon to selected retailers.
