Daniella Cameron, Director / Store Owner at BarberShopCo Cambridge, Talks Change in 2020
I’d name my autobiography…
Flirting with the line
To me success means…
Living your purpose
Creating happiness within your home
Giving some belief in someone each day to unlock some inspiration in them
Adventure
Growing yourself, getting uncomfortable
Best advice I’ve been given…
You create your own reality.
I made my first dollar:
Labelling wool for export when I was 11, then waitressing while snow ski racing full time when I was 16.
The most rewarding part of my job…
Seeing my team achieve and the business grow.
This is a total change of industry for me! I was in the sport performance industry working with athletes as an advisor and mentor prior to this. So to transfer skills and leadership into an unknown territory and see positive outcomes is really encouraging.
My goals for 2020 are…
Have our second child in October, and be present.
Grow my team (in both numbers and furthering their career).
Grow my store by another 20% in monthly revenue by September.
The women who inspire me:
I am inspired by most women I come into contact with! Everyone has a story to share, and I have been fortunate enough to listen to so many journeys of strength, courage, risk, leadership and ambition.
There are some incredible female leaders in the world today who truly encourage dynamic success.
The main challenge for women in business is…
Often ambition and perspective isn’t taken seriously or with real credibility… until you prove it. However, I have never really fallen into this mentality and through sport always learnt to set your target and work on every area to get yourself there. I don’t see a huge amount of challenge if you really believe in what you’re doing and just get on with it.
The change I want to see in 2020 is…
People remembering what Covid-19 lockdown gifted them (amongst the uncertainty and juggling). It allowed us the space and time to slow down, reflect and go back to basics. It gave the time to individuals and families to reevaluate where their energy goes, what their priorities are and for a lot of people I have spoken to, to finally follow what their passion is and explore their potential. 2020 is the year to get out of your ‘norm,’ speak up and take note if you have just settled and want more for your life.
