Eggs and bacon, anyone?
Everyone knows that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, for lots of different reasons. It boosts your metabolism, it helps your brain stay healthy and it improves concentration and productivity.
You know the story – you get up, hop in the shower, make the coffee and prepare the breakfast. Scrambled eggs, greased-up pancakes with maple syrup, plump juicy tomatoes and crispy bacon straight from the barbie. It seemingly becomes a ritual that we don’t even realise we’re doing – it’s deeply ingrained in our human conditions.
Madrid-based photographer and filmmaker, Tessa Dóniga, wanted to capture that condition in her photograph series, Polpetta’s Break/Fast. She shot this series under her own creative studio, Fragmento Universo, with the art assistance of Brooklyn creative, Cristina Robles. Polpetta’s Break/Fast really does ‘provoke perception’s. Taking literally the word ‘break’ from breakfast, the series combines action and still life to create playful and absurd situations. With images that traverse boundaries of food, touch, smell, taste that creates the standard tabletop spread for Dóniga’s creative genius to spread out on.
