Everything To Watch and Listen To This Spring
Napoleon
Only Ridley Scott could be trusted to bring a historical epic to life like this. The film charts Napoleon’s rise to power, with the titular character played by the powerhouse Joaquin Phoenix. Vanessa Kirby comes in to play his estranged wife. To surprise each other during the divorce scene Kirby told Phoenix “She said, ‘Look, whatever you feel, you can do.’ I said, ‘Same thing with you.’”
This is a must-see.

Poor things
I hesitate to recommend anything directed by Yorgos Lanthimos (The Favourite, The Lobster) not because anything they’ve done hasn’t been anything other than gold, but it’s so off the wall wild you really have no idea what you’re getting yourself into. Watch the trailer, I dare you, You still won’t know what it’s about once you’re done. Starring a literally resurrected Emma Stone by the mad scientist Willem Dafoe, the film follows the girl as she learns about living.

A Haunting in Venice
Based on Agatha Christie’s “Hallowe’en Party” this is the third movie to follow the exploits of Hercule Poirot (played and directed by Kenneth Branagh). This time the highly polished sets of Death on the Nile have been traded in for the griminess of horror and murder in Venice. Have the living been murdered by the dead? Who’s the true suspect. While the genre has changed the murder mystery remains.
