Hendrick’s Gin: Cool Off from the Summer Heat
While, at first glance, there might not seem much commonality between the fleeting beauty of cherry blossoms and a bottle of meticulously handcrafted gin, Hendrick’s has taken it upon themselves to channel the airs of wabi sabi and bottle the beauty of the ephemeral in life with their smooth and deeply floral Midsummer Solstice. This summer-centric rose and cucumber-infused limited edition gin is responsible for authoring some ridiculously refreshing summer cocktails, the “proud purveyors of the peculiar” liken to a fleeting holiday romance or the evanescent lifespan of the mayfly – “a poetic expression of temporality… once it’s gone, it’s gone forever.”
While lazy summer afternoons are still a thing, one of the best excuses to cool off from the summer heat over the likes of a day-casion brunch, backyard soiree or rooftop gathering is with one of Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice’s most flirtatious and classic of cocktails – the Midsummer Spritz. As far as your tastebuds go, this zesty “sonata of elderflowers” combined with a refreshing hit of soda and cucumber, will have you tasting the heights of the eternal in the ephemeral. It won’t last forever, but that is what makes it all the more exquisite.
