Kate Sylvester: Long Live the Sisterhood
A staple of NZ’s fashion roster, Kate Sylvester has been a mainstay in the wardrobes of any sartorially-minded Kiwi woman for nearly 30 years. Back in 1993, Kate Sylvester launched her fashion brand, originally called Sisters. The name has since changed, but the connection to the idea of sisterhood has never faded.
Her most recent collection, Sisters, is both a nod to the original brand name and a way to capture sisterhood in all its forms: through friendship, family, inspiration and leadership.
Taking inspiration from women such as Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, actress and activist Jane Fonda, as well as the characters from Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women, the collection features a line up of positive colours such as warm pinks, turquoise, coral and tobacco in a range including high-neck shirts, coats and perfect tailoring.
Straddling the line of vintage and modern looks that KS is so famous for, the campaign shoot styles pieces from this latest collection with garments from the archive, showcasing the timelessness and longevity of the brand’s designs.
