Norain Ahmed Talks Women In Business
I’d name my autobiography…
The Balancing Act.
To me success means…
Being happy internally, no matter where you are or what you do in life.
Best advice I’ve been given…
Be the change you want to see in others.
I made my first dollar:
Selling fresh fruit smoothies when I was 13.
The most rewarding part of my job…
Being able to bring ‘out of the square’ ideas to fruition without them being just ideas that go nowhere.
Life motto:
Focus on the moment that ‘is’, not on what was or what will be…
Favourite book:
Angelfall by Susan EE.
My goals for 2020 are…
Plan my wedding, buy a home and meditate more.
The women who inspire me:
Malala Yousafzai.
The gender stereotype I can’t stand:
Women are bad drivers.
The main challenge for women in business is…
Overcoming their own deep-seated belief that women have to work harder than men to achieve the same as them.
Don’t get me wrong, yes there is hard evidence of gender inequality in businesses around the world, but I think one of the first places we need to start as women is start knowing that we are good at what we do, not because of our gender or some other stereotype that we have to work hard at disproving, but because of our smarts…
Same as any other person out there, regardless of what their gender, age or race is.
We need pay equality because…
In 2020 it is ridiculous to even think otherwise.
Gender diversity in the workplace is…
Necessary, especially if the business serves a wide and diverse customer base.
I advocate for change by…
Trying to be the change I want to see in others. I think self-reflection is key in every situation.
The change I want to see in 2020 is…
People being more accepting of one another and animal testing for products not even being an option anymore.
