Prada Wants You to Eat Fashion
Your choice; a new monarch or new Prada Caffè at Harrods in London? Well too bad, you get both. Haute Couture neither starts nor ends at fashion. It’s a lifestyle, an exclusive experience just for you. What could embody this more than food and the places we indulge it? Prada’s new space offers an immersive experience of their visual hallmarks across everything from their tableware, decor and menu. Seeing the world through Prada’s eyes is to see velvet-upholstered sofas and armchairs coloured with the brand’s iconic green. From the black-and-white chequered floor of the historic Prada boutique in Milan, to floral bas-reliefs on the walls, the space feels like a whirlwind tour of the global brand’s locations. Criss cross Italy with wine from Sicily to Piedmont. Negroni-based aperitifs wash down the sandwiches and risotto, sitting alongside buffalo mozzarella and salmon and crab dishes.
Of course pastries also play a central role, mind the pun. These are displayed inside the spectacular counter, as well as the wall behind. Each is a singular piece of expert craftsmanship melding together modern techniques and classic ingredients, just like the rest of Prada.
If you find yourself in London, the Prada Caffè will be open until 7 January 2024, and should definitely be part of your tour while in the city.
