Top 3 Luxury Places to Stay For A Winter Christmas
We covered luxury summer holiday locations, but they’re missing one important thing, snow. Christmas songs always harp on about a “white Christmas” but it’s not something we normally get to experience. So why not make 2015 (or even 2016 if you want to have a goal for the end of next year) the year you change all that?
1. Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort | Finland
Located in Lapland only 250km from the Arctic Circle this is about as close as you can get to the classic imagery of Christmas without turning into Santa on the side of a Coca-Cola truck.
The land is pristine and the water is so fresh you can drink it straight from the stream. To keep yourself entertained you can ride huskies and reindeer through the snow, or even a snowmobile if you’re wanting a little more adrenaline. At night you can relax and watch the northern lights through your glass domed dwelling.
There are a range of different rooms to stay in, from glass igloos to cosy log cabins. This place is definitely worth checking out.
2. Hôtel de Glace | Canada
The Hôtel de Glace is entirely made out of ice, ice-bar, ice beds, ice chairs. It’s all ice! Between 9 pm and 9 am, all the overnight guests have access to the nordic relaxation area with its outdoor spas and sauna. This place is very peaceful and the winter decor is amazing. Under the stars or beneath the snowflakes, you will enjoy a nice and quiet moment.
But this place is a real experience. Just don’t go licking any of the furniture.
3. Stein Eriksen Lodge | United States
Named after Norwegian Olympic Gold Medal skier Stein Eriksen and nestled mid-mountain at Deer Valley Resort, the lodge is a European getaway in the heart of Park City. More than a resort hotel, the best hotel in park city, Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley, has become a legend in its own right, offering guests an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life through luxurious accommodations,world-class dining, legendary service, and year-round recreation. This year the hotel received the awards of “World’s Best Ski Hotel” and “United States’ Best Ski Hotel” at the World Ski Awards.
Guests take solace from the world in one of our 180 rooms or suites, every one designed with rich colors, natural textures, and sumptuous fabrics, and each echoing elements of Norway’s traditional style mixed with contemporary American aesthetics. More than 145 stone fireplaces throughout the property, many en-suite, add coziness and warmth to the cathedral ceilings in the well-appointed common areas.
This is the place you’ll want to go if you want good skiing and classic comfort.
