We are the Directors….
There has been much talk of sovereignty with the recent passing of Queen Elizabeth – which got me thinking about our own sovereignty. Now I’m not talking about rallying against Government mandates or policy, I’m referring to the degree of our own power and authority in our lives and experience.
‘Sovereignty’
Acting independently and without outside interference – in command.
How would you rate your own sovereign experience?
Old paradigms and ways of working, while often supporting us to reach the dizzying heights of success can in fact diminish our inner authority as we defer to others, seek to please and be silent in the fear of rejection or repercussions. I’m sure we can all connect with a time where we have chosen silence as a means to be accepted by the status quo, in either our personal or business lives, living through sheer grit and determination. Or times when co-dependency has seemed the easier option, in allowing others to make decisions for us.
To be sovereign is to stand in our truth and integrity, to connect in with ourselves, to live by our values and to speak our truth, even when this may be uncomfortable.
There is no authority outside of you.
You are a sovereign being.
When we believe in our own sovereignty we disengage from people or circumstances that may have sought to oppress. We take back our power.
Embracing our sovereignty however needs work. It is not about focusing externally on conditions that may be perceived as oppressive and laying blame. Life’s purpose is to give you all the lessons you need to thrive. Look within:
- What is your truth? What are you about, what is important to you, what are your values?
- Where are you giving your attention to things or people that don’t serve you?
- What do you need to let go of to be who you truly are or want to be?
- Do you set healthy boundaries in protecting what is important to you? If not, what do you want these boundaries to look like?
- What is your level of resilience and how can this be strengthened? Starting with your own health and mental wellbeing.
Put time aside to simply be with you, in considering these questions. Seek clarity as to your inner workings which will support you become more attuned to the signals which will present when you are not operating in alignment with who you are. This doesn’t happen overnight, like anything, it is a skill to be honed. You may find journaling of assistance in exploring these questions, simply writing down, and reflecting on, all that comes to you as you. Believe and trust in what you get.
Recognising our innate authority comes with responsibility. Everything is a choice. Through our beliefs, thoughts, feelings, actions and reactions we create our reality. Stop worrying about what others are doing and focus on your every day choices. As they say, where focus goes – energy flows.
The premise that no one else is responsible for us can be quite confronting, however it is exciting to see the future as your creation. Think of all that you can create by taking the lead!
It is time to call upon the courage to be all that you can be, to make decisions and act based on your own sovereignty.
Embrace the journey.
