Wellness, Longevity, And Healthy Skin
Connecting for Wellness
SALA, the popular Auckland-based multidisciplinary movement studio, has expanded its space to cater to the increased demand for wellness post-pandemic. Founder Sarah Lindsay’s vision for SALA has always been “to offer a space for people to move, unwind, and connect” and the extension marks a significant step in achieving that. The new immersive space has been designed mindfully to nurture a mind-body connection, with earthy tones and raw timber work supporting a continuous flow of movement, offering what is now Auckland’s largest reformer pilates studio featuring 16 bespoke reformer beds. The space also includes a Solar room replete with cork flooring and an Angus Muir light experience, a new Sunset room for barre and fitness classes, a practitioner pop-up Healing room, and an elevated community space and lounge offering koha Kōkako coffee, tea, and cacao, with all proceeds going towards a different charity each quarter. The studio will also partner with Trees That Count, planting a native tree in Aotearoa for every SALA gift card purchased. “Now more than ever, holistic health has never felt more vital,” says Lindsay. “As the need for connection expands, so too will SALA evolve to meet those needs.”
Unlocking Longevity
The notions of limits to healthy ageing and human longevity remain quite the hot topic, and one of the world’s leading longevity experts, Dr. Peter Attia has just put his two cents in with his own operating manual on the complex subject. Outlive is his definitive manifesto on living better and extending lifespan, challenging the traditional framework of mainstream medicine, which he claims has failed to make much progress against the diseases of ageing that kill most people, being heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, and type 2 diabetes. Dr. Attia believes that a personalised and proactive strategy is needed for longevity, which is based on science rather than “biohacking.” In Outlive, he offers a well-founded strategic approach to extending lifespan while improving physical, cognitive, and emotional health. With practical advice and a roadmap of sorts, readers can set about plotting a different path for their life, with a view to making each decade better than the one before. Happy trails!
my skin for your skin
Clean supplement company, therapure is on a mission to harness natural and clinically-proven ingredients to help support troubled skin and in turn, help individuals feel confident and happy in their own skin. Their latest skin supplement, my skin, uses a unique blend of bioavailable ingredients delivered through specialised delivery systems to ensure optimal absorption into the body. The state-of-the-art formula includes quercetin and curcumin phospholipid complexes, zinc, and vitamins B5, B3, and B6 in highly absorbable forms, which work together to provide powerful support to the skin’s deeper layers and normal renewal processes to improve the overall health and appearance of the skin. Clinical Nutritionist Warren Maginn emphasises the importance of dosages when it comes to supporting balanced skin function. “Dosages matter and the B5 alone can be a powerful ingredient when taken in high concentrations, helping lipid and fat metabolism to support balanced skin function,” says Maginn. “People often see results using nutrients like this within days to weeks, and enjoy clearer, calmer-looking skin.”
