Wunderfully Puff & Raising the Bar on Fashion
Best Foot Forward
Creative Director Sarah Street has amplified her voice in the local footwear market with a captivating exploration into proportion and balance with her latest collection from Bronwyn.
Collection Four is a meticulously curated release of minimalist pieces focusing on boots alongside flats, marking the brand’s first foray into the latter category. Showcasing unique heel designs and subtle elevated details such as triple-row stitching and double rands, Collection Four features contemporary and feminine hues of Rosewater, Latte, and Chocolate, grounded by blacks in both smooth and tumbled textures. The brand founder’s mother, Bronwyn, serves as a constant driving force for the designer, inspiring her to keep progressing the brand. “…I have a constant grounding focus for the brand, and that is my mother, Bronwyn,” says Sarah. When you lose someone who means everything to you, it is life-altering. Having a gentle, daily reminder of the love I have for her and she had for me, is a constant driving force for me to keep growing and evolving this brand, and I absolutely love that.”
Raising the Bar
Steering away from releasing large collections and focusing instead on curating select drops throughout the year, when Dunedin-based jewellery designer Holly Howe releases a jewellery piece, it’s certainly worth the wait. With a focus on light, movement, and scale, each piece is designed to stand alone while serving as a platform to explore new ideas, and her latest release is no exception. Expressing similar juxtapositions, which draw on her love of architecture and geometric form, the Bar Bracelet, $495, is delicate yet solid, playing with light and movement while the Frame Cocktail Ring, $395, features a statement frame-like setting surrounding the stone, creating a delicate yet chunky look. In addition to her permanent collections and limited releases, Howe also offers bespoke design services, creating one-of-a-kind jewellery pieces that become part of her clients’ stories. “There is something incredibly humbling about being asked to create a custom piece for somebody,” says Howe. “To know you have been a part of making someone feel special, that your work is now part of their story, it’s a privilege to be part of that process, of creating memories”
