Your Say: Sarah Walden on Being an Advocate for Change
Sarah Walden
Actress, Entrepreneur, and Licenced Real Estate Salesperson MJRE
I advocate for change by…
Embracing my uniqueness and engaging with everyone at face value, soul value, depending on the moment.
To me, success means… Balance.
I’d name my autobiography… Progressing Imperfectly, Perfectly.
I made my first dollar… Selling pine cones at the end of our drive, $1 a bag.
Best advice I’ve been given: When you change the way you look at things, things you look at change.
The most rewarding part of my job: People and connecting with people. I have a lot of variety in my life which keeps life exciting.
Life Motto: Life is like riding a bike, you don’t fall off unless you stop pedalling.
Favourite Book: One of the very first books I read, The Potato Factory by Bryce Courtenay. Think hope, struggle and tenacity.
My goals for the next 12 months are… To enjoy my children more and more. They’re so little and so fun and deserve it all. I have many projects on the go which I love, so as to be evermore present in every situation and enjoy each moment would be the ultimate goal.
The women who inspire me are… My Mum, my number 1! It’s so special to share being a mum with your mum, especially one as hands on and supportive as mine. All the working mums in particular out there holding it down whilst in the lockdown! Also, Megan Jaffe – my principal, my friend, and my mentor. She’s powerfully assertive and gentle in her undertakings. Lastly, Karen Kay – my agent and longtime friend.
The main challenge for women in business is… Balancing everything, giving yourself in every situation all of the time.
We need pay equality because… We should be paid what we’re worth and most often, women are like icebergs, you only see the tip of what’s going on underneath.
